For the country and weekends n town... colorful District Check topcoat
tailored with raglan sleeves, balmacaan collar, full skirt and deep,
rounded, flapped patch pockets. The leather buttons ... touch of
distinction.

Front and back view of a new version of the Guards' coat. The back
features center inverted box pleat with body fullness gathered in by
loose belt. By spacing the buttons a little more widely at front, lapels
achieve a long, becoming sweep.

A new town topcoat features dressy peak lapels, fly front and flapped
pockets ... tailored from a fabric that incorporates extra-wide herringbone.

For informal occasions in town, a new three-button single-breasted suit
which is distinguished by it's broad, double-breasted lapel. The
matching waistcoat is tailored in double-breasted style.


For business wear, a new two-button single breasted jacket with moderate
width shoulders and waist suppression. The third flapped change pocket
is being more frequently seen on town suits.

London Dateline

A pictorial resume of current English fashions for town, semi-sports and
informal day wear as interpreted by leading West End custom tailors.

For semi-sports ... appropriate in town or in the country ... a cheviot
fabric tailored in two-button model. The use of piped pockets in a suit
tailored from what might be considered normally a country fabric gives a
business-like effect to the garment.

Elegance ... Color
for Black Tie Evenings


Not to be confused with color in dinner jackets for resorts and summer
evenings ... rather for an occasion in town where the conventional black
dinner jacket is in order. Made from an imported silk faille (Shown in
insert) , the combination of black and dark red that alternate in the
raised ribs of the fabric gives the impression when viewed at a distance
of a deep, rich maroon. Custom-tailored with smart self-shal collar and

The Four-Button Odd Coat

Reminiscent of the 20's ... different in design and refinements ... the reintroduction of a style once the uniform of undergraduates from coast to coast. Pictured here, this new version tailored by J. Press of New York, New Haven and Cambridge in a hand-loomed Shetland. Designed to be
worn with the center two buttons fastened (as worn above and shown here) , some young men may want to wear it with all four buttons closed ( in
insert) as during its last reign of popularity.
A New Odd Vest ... Made in England ( also from J. Press) ... below, a considerably longer-than-normal vest follows Victorian influence. Tailored from an all-wool doeskin fabric, it is available in red with gold color metal or white pearl button ... deep mustard yellow with gold color metal buttons ... buff tan with smoked pearl buttons

As seen by our candid camera ... current trends in clothes for on or off campus activities .. reflecting some of the styles that have matriculated with better dressed young men.

From Jaeger of London ... the new wool muffler-toque. Can be worn stocking cap style, as shown, or conventionally around the neck.

One version of the cable-stitched tennis type sweater in white with contrasting multi-color neck treatment.

The Tyrolean-shaped small brimmed hat ... The Tartan odd vest trimmed with gold color metal buttons.

A new color ... deep yellow to include in Oxford cloth shirt wardrobes. Tailored by Hathaway with button-down collar ... the style given All-American ranking on campuses from coast to coast. Fabrics swatched loomed from fine combed cotton yarns.

A Weekend Coat

Using a comfortable, moderate weight fabric, this three-button detailed patch pocket jacket features distinctive yet refined check in muted color combinations gaining favor with discriminating dressers. Tailored in Los Angeles by Jackman, it incorporates in line and patter the type of country clothing favored by well dressed men.
for Elegance at Home

From a collection of lounging robes styled by Jackman, incorporating the same precision and workmanship used in the fine clothing he tailors. Details not usually found in ready made garments include padded shoulders, coat-type lapels, extremely deep inside yoke. Luxurious woolen fabric is light weight, with and extremely soft hand.
the Wool Jersey Jacket

New use this season for a fabric long favored by outdoor sportsmen. Made of fine all-wool knitted jersey, it features shawl collar in contrasting color and button placement allowing low opening at the front. Tailored by Alfred of New York, the warmth and resiliency afforded by a knit
fabric when combined with functional styling makes a particularly adaptable garment for outdoor activities like golf when free movement is essential.
