Mr. "T"

Esquire's

New trim Look

Take

Over

A fashion tornado has swept the country ever since Esquire's premier showing last month of the new Mr. T fashions that will dominate your wardrobe from now on. Here's exclusive chapter #2

A direct hit! Mr. T, introduced in Esquire last month, has been booming across the country. In every major store in every community., he's right on target - and will stay there throughout 1951. This man has everything the American male has been wanting in his wardrobe- from tapered hat to trim shoes, a strictly new and masculine closetful of clothes. Around the clock, twelve months a year, the Mr. T idea is to make a man look taller, trimmer, and always in perfect taste. Mr. T has that comfortable, custom look that you've been waiting for in your apparel: straight-hanging lines; restrained colors; fresh, new designs. Examine our man at the left; he's Mr. T personified. Everything he wears is right in the T-formula: Tremont hat ( snap brim, tapered pinch crown ) , Pin- Point collar shirt ( fastened with a pin ) , tartan checked tie, Tower model suit ( three button notched lapel jacket, narrower shoulders) , and trim, straight-tipped shoes.

Towner and

Turnabout

There's not an impractical ounce of cloth, not a useless-stitch in the new, warmer, lightweight towner overcoat that Mr. T is wearing this fall. Scientifically designed to give you easy-wearing comfort, fashion designed to have you looking your best, this dark blue Towner is a wonder for warmth and lightness. Another T special is the Turnabout muffler our man is wearing. It's reversible, maroon on one side, grey on the other, for two-tone contrast - a T prime characteristic. That tapered crown hat has a raw edge, black band against grey felt. Wear it brim up, Gloves are grey mocha

Trim look

takes to the

Turf

There's a race or two left to Belmont, then the United Hunt Meet, and a month of running at Jamaica. Or if you prefer the sound of cleats to horseshoes, there's football in the air everywhere. Mr. T's Turf wardrobe is designed to have you on the right track for any fall sporting event. If the weather's living up to tradition around Indian summer, you'll be best dressed in the outfit at the left. Our man wears a tapered crown pork-pie hat, black band for contrast to tan felt. His jacket is a Mid-tone brown tweed, three-button, single-chested with center vent. Authentic Scottish Tartan waistcoat has metal buttons. Brown foulard tie with shield design arranged in that tall, Mr. T terraced pattern. Rounded collar shirt is held by a pin. Tan gabardine slacks

Track Our cap-wearing friend has no worries even of the sun goes down before the running of the eighth race. He'll keep warm in his artic-tested, MILLIIUM LINED SURCOAT. Millium is a new, specially-treated, metallic fabric lining that returns your body heat via radiation. Underneath he wears a sanka brown corduroy jacket and related shoes.

... AND FIELD The tall , trim looking gentleman at the right is wearing a practical Mr. T coat that'll serve him well from now until spring. It has a pile-lining and tweed shell. Until Mr. T came along, these pile-lined coats had a plain gabardine shells. Now both are right. Our man wears a green Turf hat of rough felt, string-net back and leather palm gloves, and a Tartan muffler.

Mr. "T" and Tottem checks ...

Select accessories carefully, wear then correctly! Here's a group coordinated by color and by the new Tottem checks. Tie is blue with red and yellow Tottem checks. Braces and garters are Tottem, too. Nylon socks have tottem patterned panel

Mt. "T" and Rus-T brown leather

A neat touch of T is the tactic of coordinating the leather that you wear. New shades in leather were created to help you do just that. Here's a trio of cooperative accessories in Rus-T Brown,. The belt is suede with a Thaneridge buckle. It's tough, long lasting, and a perfect match for Rus-T Brown suede gloves with nylon lining. Picking up the same leather color, these plain toe, two eyelet shoes are Rus-T Brown brushed leather.

Mr. "T" and Sport designs ...

Mr. T is a tall man. Every new idea in design and color that has made him tops in fashion has aimed to give every man extra height. Tall and typical of Mr. T are the designs of this trio. Sweater is a Titan with terraced designs giving altitude across chest and shoulders. Wide spaced animal figures on tie make it a match for the small plaid button down shirt. Thane buckle belt.

Mr. "T" and Trimmer shoes...

When you get down to shoes, Mr. T put the accent on Trimness and comfort. Here is a brown, brushed leather, plain toe slip-on shoes that can't be beaten in either category. It has an elastic gore under the top flap to insure a comfortable fit. Next, ankle-high, plain-toe shoe is a ship-lined chukka - a fall favorite. Patterned socks are in the T-formula, too.

Mr, "T" at night

Inside ... Night must fall and for evenings at home away from the madding crowd, Mr. T wears lounging robes and pajamas that are cut for comfort. Color is just as important as design, so the pajamas have contrasting blue top and grey trousers. Patterned after the Blazer jacket, Trail Blazer pajamas allow plenty of free movement. Over them wear a Tri-way robe. The satisfied customer at the left wears a maroon Tri-way with notched collar that can be closed up at the throat.

And OUT ... Out on the town, Mr. T wears a dinner jacket that includes all of the natural trim characteristics that dominate his daytime wardrobe. In midnight blue, this jacket has a narrow shawl collar, narrower shoulders, straight lines. Our man, like singer Tony Martin, wears the jacket with a narrow Mr. T bow tie and dress shirt with two studs. The hat he carries is midnight blue too, with a ribbed fabric on the under side of the brim.
